The Lore and Origin Story of this fictional universe

This universe was created by me when I was three. The origin story starts when I was a baby though. The whole language situation though didn't happen until I became obsessed with conlanging, and then I added more in-depth lore for these worlds. I started creating Chloquiana at the age of 13.

Long ago, a galaxy called the Chocolate Milk Galaxy formed, far, far away from the Milky Way. It didn't have very many solar systems: only 5 (which I haven't imagined yet. I've been procrastinating on that for years 🤣) and one of those was the Minty Peppermint Chocolate Milk solar system. It was very small, with only three planets: One that was made entirely of candy, chocolate milk, and pizza. One which was made of minty materials. And the third one, the closest to the sun, was the planet that was made of peppermints.

A rocketship of babies from Earth crash-landed on the candy planet. Nobody knows where those babies came from or why they were in space. None of the babies could speak except one. Her name was Chloe, and she was quite intelligent (I was like 3 when I made this world so I always told myself how smart I was 🤣). Chloe helped the other babies find food.

...It wasn't very hard. The entire planet was MADE of food. They tried to eat candy, but they didn't have teeth. Same with pizza. The only thing on the planet they could consume was a delicious chocolate liquid the Earthlings called "chocolate milk." The babies LOVED it. It quickly became all of their favorite drinks.

Chloe, the only baby that could speak, tried to explain to her companions that their rocket was destroyed and they had no way of returning to Earth, and would have to inhabit this planet. Since the others couldn't speak, and, you know, were LITERAL INFANTS, they didn't understand, care, or listen and were only concerned about the wonderful chocolatey liquid they had discovered.

She decided to inhabit the planet for them. She nominated herself as president, since they couldn't nominate her. She named the planet "Planet Chloe" and cared for all her companions because they couldn't care for themselves. But since they couldn't understand English, and weren't exposed to anyone speaking an Earth language BESIDES her, they all just spoke in babbles and random noises, even as adults. She wasn't very creative in coming up with names, so she just called all of them "Chloe" but gave them different last names to differentiate. She gave them only the foods she liked because she didn't want them to have foods that were disgusting (in her opinion). It wasn't from a place of malice. Eventually, they got so used to those foods that they didn't WANT anything else. They also inherited all of Chloe's interest because she basically raised all of them. Since they all loved chocolate milk, she invented bi-hourly chocolate milk festivals.

While Chloe was still a baby, she did manage to fix the rocket, but her companions didn't want to leave Planet Chloe, so she decided she'd go back to Earth to visit her family every once in awhile. She appointed a vice president, Chloe Tarfad, to run the planet for her while she was away.

All the Chloes lived quite happily. One day, Chloe decided to take the rocket and explore the rest of the solar system. She discovered that there was a mint planet and a peppermint planet! She was quite thrilled! Suddenly, she saw a rocket that seemed to be losing control. She guided them to Planet Chloe, so they could get help instantly. All the Chloes swarmed them and gave them assistance and medical attention. Unfortunately, she couldn't communicate with them, as they spoke a different language she knew nothing about, but she guided them to the other two planets and suggested they live on one of them. All of the strangers wholeheartedly agreed that the Mint planet was best for them. They dubbed themselves "The Mintians" and became good friends with the Chloes, despite the language barrier, as they were grateful for the help. Chloe would frequently go to *try* and converse with the Mintian President, but since they had absolutely no knowledge of each other's languages, they had to communicate using pictures and gestures and grunts and body language. Chloe tried her best to explain the concept of Earth, and how she was technically bilingual in this solar system, speaking both Chloe and English, but since the language of the Chloes wasn't considered a real language to Earthlings, she was just a monolingual there. He somehow managed to get the gist. They formed an alliance.

One day, a group of strawberries were flying a rocket. They saw these three planets, and Planet Mint and Planet Chloe looked very unappealing, and they could tell they were inhabited. But they noticed that the Peppermint planet was empty, so they decided to live there, but remade it entirely strawberry themed. All remnants of peppermint were destroyed. It was renamed Planet Strawberry. Their planet was the smallest of all, and the lack of space frustrated them. They wanted their OWN planet, with nobody else on it...but they wanted it to be bigger! So they did the unthinkable...they tried to infiltrate both planets and take them over.

Shockingly, despite the Chloes thinking strawberries are disgusting, they welcomed them and were quite friendly, since they were alive and humanoid. This frustrated the strawberries, but they were at least relieved that the Chloes weren't gonna eat them 🤷‍♀️

The Mintians were also friendly as they wanted no conflict.

The Strawberrians were not gonna be able to rile them up any time soon...

Meanwhile, Chloe discovered on her planet that there were some chocolate milks who were ALIVE! Like they could talk and walk and everything! They were frightened at first, and hid from all the Chloes due to fear of the Chloes drinking all of them. But Chloe reassured them that they were clearly alive, and thus the Chloes wouldn't want to hurt them. But there wasn't enough room for them, because the number of Chloes had grown to over 25 BILLION and the planet wasn't large enough to add this incredibly large tribe of 5 billion chocolate milks.

Chloe wanted to help but didn't know how.

She contacted the Mintians. By this time, she had learned to speak Mintian, so she could communicate. She asked the president if they had any space for the chocolate milks.

He said yes, but explained to her that they knew nothing about chocolate milks, and would need someone to help them and guide them. He gave her a HUGE chunk of land to use for whatever she wanted for them. The chocolate milks weren't big on having a president though, and preferred royalty. They themselves crowned her Queen of the Chocolate Milk Kingdom as thanks for helping them. They built a palace for her, and stationed guards around the area. They formed a whole civilization. She spoke English to them, as they already knew that language, but she also had them be taught Mintian in schools. They also had optional classes for up to two Earth languages besides English. It could be ANY two Earth languages. And since the guards would likely need to converse with her privately without all the citizens knowing, they were to be spoken to exclusively in Chloe. When talking to each other or other people though, they could speak in English or Mintian if they wanted.

The Strawberrians (somehow) found out about this kingdom, and they were FURIOUS. They couldn't believe that CHOCOLATE MILKS got a whole KINGDOM. Also, they thought chocolate milk was an abomination to food/drink kind, so they HATED them.

They wanted to destroy them. (I invented the Strawberrians because what kind of world would this be without antagonists 🤣)

So they decided to send spies to infiltrate and find out all information possible about this kingdom and all the chocolate milks there, so when the time was right...the kingdom would become the Strawberry Kingdom MWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

However, Chloe and the chocolate milks didn't view the Strawberrians as evil. So when the spies arrived, they treated them very kindly and were welcoming. Chloe didn't want them to have to learn new languages to communicate, so instead she mandated classes for both adults and children on the Strawberrian language. That just made the plan easier for the strawberries, because they could understand stuff easier now. However, they did not know Chloe Language, since it was spoken only by palace staff and only in emergencies or with top-secret information. They also were unaware that the palace staff used this language. They assumed they just used English or Mintian.

Chloe quickly figured out what was going on, when she overheard a hushed conversation between two strawberries speaking in Strawberrian, but they did not know that Chloe could understand it. They thought she only spoke English, Mintian, and whatever the grunty babbly random noise language of Chloeland was. (That was Chloe Language). She caught them in the act, and declared to her guards, in a hushed Chloe Language conversation, that they were to be sternly observed and watched. She made a decree to them that they were ONLY to use Chloe with each other in public now, unless in a private setting, and to not reveal ANY information about palace life to citizens. In fact, despite how sad it was, they were encouraged to avoid talking to citizens at all, for the safety of the kingdom. Spies could be anywhere and she didn't want the strawberries catching on to what they would discuss in their lives.

She contacted her fellow Chloes in Chloeland, and told Chloe Tarfad to inform them that if they see any Strawberrians there...do NOT interact with them AT ALL.

The Strawberrians however...learned Chloe. How? Simple.

They managed to break in to the palace, and spied on the guards. The guards didn't know they were being watched, and so when talking with visitors to the palace, they'd use Mintian or English. But when speaking with each other in front of visitors, they'd use Chloe. The Strawberrians managed to determine what they were saying because they pulled the fire alarm, broke into the top secret files when the guards were distracted, and found EVERYTHING about the kingdom and about Chloe Language written down in there. They couldn't read Chloe Language, but they snatched the files and brought them to their friends who were spying on the Chloes in Chloeland...and had picked up basic Chloe Language.

They translated it into Strawberrian. Now they could plot their evil plan...

Chloes in Chloeland were taught Mintian as they'd need it to converse with their neighbors on Planet Mint...but when with each other, they still spoke Chloe. They didn't realize the Strawberrians were spying on them and learning the language.

Chloe knew she needed a solution, and FAST.

She couldn't believe it. Thirteen earth years of safety in this place...and now it was incredibly unsafe. She decided to create a new language, called "Chloquiana." Her goal was to make it simple, as an emergency language for the guards. Before teaching it to them, she made absolutely certain that all strawberry spies were driven away from the palace...and then she taught it to them.

She instructed them that they had to be absolutely certain that the Strawberrians would have a ZERO percent chance of learning it.

While the strawberries were all temporarily driven away, she made an announcement to her kingdom.

In Mintian, translated to English here, she described to them her announcement, just in case any Strawberrians had somehow not been noticed and that way they couldn't listen in.

"From this day forward, until we permanently save ourselves from the Strawberrians, here's how language will work in this kingdom: All Chocolate Milks may speak any language besides Chloe Language privately. Guards will be stationed at every house's and building's door to catch any Strawberrians before they come in. They will also be stationed in Chloeland to help protect them. This is a safety precaution to ensure that no Strawberrians can understand you in Chloe in case they somehow manage to evade the guards. The Strawberrians do not know English or Mintian. Use that to your advantage."

Then she continued on. "I know they'll be back soon. The truth is, they likely will find a way to come back and we probably will not be able to stop them. Because of that, if you see a Strawberrian in public, you must speak Strawberrian. We cannot risk them learning Mintian or English. When you get the chance, go to the nearest guard you can find discreetly, and say "Cociana" to inform them that there is a Strawberrian in the place, so they can be on the lookout. Even if you don't SEE any Strawberrians, you still must speak the language in public in case they are spying. I know this sounds counterintuitive, but it is to ensure that they don't learn our private languages so that when we NEED to talk privately, we can do so safely. When visiting the palace, you may use Mintian or English and can use Chloe Language if you wish. The palace is HEAVILY guarded, so the chances of strawberries sneaking in is incredibly low. The guards, however, will use a language I am creating called Chloquiana. You all do not have to learn this language. It is for private, emergency communication between palace staff. They will use this language when speaking in public to each other so that the Strawberrians can't understand them and I will be able to talk to them if nearby. They will not interact with citizens unless absolutely necessary, and if they do interact with you, it likely will be in the palace. That is for our own safety. I will speak to all of you in Strawberrian because nothing I say will be an urgent situation, as all of those will be handled privately in the palace."

So it was decided. The Strawberrians did come back, but it took many years, and they wanted vengeance. They had made a plan to destroy the Chocolate Milk Kingdom. However, despite years going by, the Chocolate Milk Kingdom kept to the precautions placed because they had no idea when the Strawberrians may return, and didn't want to risk any danger. So they spoke Strawberrian in public, Mintian or English in private, and Mintian, English, or Chloe in the palace. The guards continued to speak Chloquiana. When the Strawberrians returned, they were confused. They thought perhaps the guards had forgotten how to speak Chloe Language. And they found it odd that everyone around them used Strawberrian. Despite concern for them being able to understand Mintian and English, Chloe allowed Chloquiana to be spoken publicly by the guards because the Strawberrians had no way of understanding it. They were not at the age where they could just naturally absorb languages. But not only that... Chloquiana did not yet have a writing system, unlike English and Mintian, which DID. That was intentional. Chloe did not want a repeat of the situation. Due to the lack of a writing system, they had no access to information written down about the language. Also, since it was only spoken in dire, emergency situations, they rarely heard it. Combining lack of exposure and a written form made learning it almost impossible.

However, the strawberries managed to evade the guards somewhat often, and picked up on English and Mintian through hidden sources they found stashed in the residence of the President of Planet Mint, and by traveling to Earth, and living in places where English is commonly spoken. That's when Chloe sent out a royal decree stating that Chloquiana would become the official language of the Kingdom, since it'd be almost impossible for them to learn it. Under ALL circumstances, Chloquiana was to be spoken. More and more chocolate milks started becoming guards in hopes of helping keep the kingdom safe. Over 2.5 billion of the 5 billion chocolate milks there had now become guards. They were able to temporarily drive out all the Strawberrians again. Then, all chocolate milks were given extensive lessons on Chloquiana so as to speak it fluently. When the Strawberrians returned, they could not get any information, as they could understand literally nothing that went on around them. The Chloes in Chloeland were also given lessons on Chloquiana, so that they could visit and communicate with the chocolate milks, since they couldn't use Chloe or Mintian or English to talk. The chocolate milks would also visit them too.

After many, many years (so by this point, it is the future, like I'd say maybe about 1500 Chocolate Milk Galaxy years or so, which would be equivalent to 2029), the danger ceased. The Strawberrians who were still living on Planet Strawberry discovered that their leader, who started the whole "spy" operation, was actually just using them for his own gain. His plan was to get control over Planet Mint and Planet Chloe, and then kick out all the strawberries into outer space and just keep all three planets entirely for himself. The Strawberrians HATED this, and they all got together to overthrow him. After appointing their new leader, they agreed to stop trying to take over the Galaxy and apologized to the Chloes, the Mintians, and the Chocolate Milk Kingdom, and formed alliances with all of them. Strawberrian was added to the language courses on both Planet Mint and Planet Chloe, and Mintian was made a course on Planet Strawberry. The Strawberrians and Mintians didn't need to teach Chloquiana in schools, as the Chloes would know Mintian (once it was retaught to them) and the Strawberrians would know it eventually. All three planets would know Strawberrian, so they'd all have mutual languages. English, however, was lost by everyone except Chloe, as she still used it daily when communicating with her family on Earth. As they already had mutual languages, she saw no reason to reteach it to them. The Chloe Language, since it wasn't used for over a thousand Chocolate Milk Galaxy years, was forgotten by all who spoke it. The Strawberrians had used it briefly as spies, but once they discovered that nobody used it anymore, they deemed it useless to them and destroyed all written records of it. Thus, there was no way to revive it. Nobody could learn it.

Since they were all now safe from the Strawberrians, Chloe decided she could create a written form of Chloquiana.

Eventually, many of the folks in Chloeland moved to Earth, and took Chloquiana with them. Among those included were family members of Nabasa and Abebi/Ami/Avery.
