Origin of the language (Lore)

Melaco 8November 3, 2026

The word "Kuapianese" derives from “kuuápwikwoen,” which literally means “language of Mars,” as it is the modern successor to the extinct Martian languages. These originated from Proto-Woersh, the ancestor of all non-Terrestrial languages (with the exception of Iagoterian). Subsequently, the Southern, Brute, Ruajanic, and Joukian language families emerged from New Woersh. It is theorized that Kuapianese arose from the fusion of these extinct languages around 1200 A.D (Gregorian calendar), a time when the Joukians concluded a series of invasions against other kingdoms and settlements that had also descended from the Woersh language.

The cultures of these various kingdoms began to gradually merge. For centuries, the Joukian Empire also fought against the Iagoterians, attempting to bring them under its hegemony. Following several defeats, Ancient Iagoterian continued to develop in a largely independent manner, while simultaneously serving as an example for the conquered colonies to seek their own independence.

In 1773, Biiauakiou initiated a revolution to break away from the Empire. This triggered a long sequence of events that culminated in the independence of Biiauakiou and the collapse of the Joukian Empire (which had, by then, been renamed the Kingdom of Niaroumia). Following the end of a long era of Joukian dominance, the Poersanic Union of Martians was established in Niaroumia in 1923—a new union composed of various city-states, each with its own laws. In independent Biiauakiou, a specific dialect of Kuapianese was preserved, whereas the city-states maintained the form of Kuapianese once used by the ancient Joukians.

The arrival of humans on Mars in 2075 brought about a further cultural shift. Particularly during the First (2093) and Second (2116) Antro-Martian Wars, the Kuapianese, Biauaquian, and Iagtoerian languages were influenced by various human languages, leading to the modernization of their vocabularies and the creation of "Earthisms" (loanwords or concepts derived from Earth). The conflict also served to forge an alliance between the Poersanic Martian Union, Iagtoeria, and Biiauakiou—nations that had harbored mutual resentment since the fall of the Kingdom of Niaroumia.
