Adjective Agreement

1 min read · 131 words

Adjectives agree depending on what case the noun is in. The adjectives succeed the noun but do not hyphenate with the noun.

  1. Nominative takes the ending -m. If the adjective ends with a consonant, take the last vowel in the adjective and add it on to the end of the adjective before the ending. Eg. Frím.

  2. Vocative takes the ending -ð. Same rule with consonant endings apply. Eg. Fríð.

  3. Accusative takes the ending -s. Same rule with consonant endings apply. Eg. Frís.

  4. Genitive takes the ending -t. Same rule with consonant endings apply. Eg. Frít.

  5. Prepositional case takes the ending -j. Remember if j appears anywhere other then the initial letter of the word, it is pronounced /dʒ/. Same rule with consonant endings apply. Eg. Fríj.
