Genitive:
The genitive case declines the noun into meaning something roughly like "X of Y" (Y-än X). Genitive isn't only for possession and relation, änglosax has a system called "verbal casing" where certain verbs have ("take on") a direct object with the genitive case instead of accusative.
Both singular and plural genitive nouns decline with the suffix "-än".
Some common verbs that take a "genitive":
"to go" (go), "to have" (hav), "to learn" (tej)
