Sadariginym!

This page will cover the prefixes used in the Samarian language, if you're traumatized with suffixes, prefixes won't help too much!

But first, a warning, not all words and verbs with prefixes mean what one would think, some even have VERY bad meanings, hidden as something very normal, so, enjoy ;)

Note: the prefixes that have two versions, follow vowel harmony rules, for example 'jáket' ❌'jéket' ✅, vowel harmony usually follows a vs e patterns

1. Verbal Prefixes

• ne- / na- (out)
Ex. Ket (to go) » Neket (to go out / to leave)

• ďe- (in)
Ex. Ket » Ďeket (to go in / to have intercourse [slang])

• jé- / já- (away)
Ex. Ket » Jéket (to go away / to f*ck off [slang])

• ǵe- / ǵa (up)
Ex. Ket » Ǵeket (to go up / to ascend)

• kö- / gö- (down [if the word starts with k- 'gö-' is used, otherwise 'kö-'])
Ex. Ket » Göket (to go down / to descend)

• źu- (back, returning)
Ex. Ket » Źuket (to go back / to return)

• edÿe- / ödÿö- (here, towards the speaker)
Ex. Ket » Edÿeket (to come here)

• ekÿe- / akÿa- (there, away from the speaker)
Ex. Ket » Ekÿeket (to go there)

• ejéne- / ajána- (here, towards the listener)
Ex. Ket » Ejéneket (to come here (towards the listener), it's like saying 'come here, specifically toward the person I'm speaking to')

• veké- (there, away from the listener)
Ex. Ket » Vekéket (to go there (away from the listener)

• reje- / raja- (apart, into pieces, scattered)

• vzer- / vzar- (as long as)
Ex. Ket » Vzerket (as long as someone goes)

• ḱert- / ḱört- (since [verb] happened)
Ex. Ket » Ḱertket (since someone went)
Note: if using this suffix, there's no need to add the past tense -n

• mek- / mak- (necessity 'must')
Ex. Ket » Mekket (must go)

• kel- / gel- (would)
Ex. Ket » Gelket (would go)

• da- / za- (could)
Ex. Ket » Deket (could go)

Not a prefix, but a suffix, but for consistency we'll add it here
• -źen / -zen (should)
Ex. Ket » Keteźen (should go)

2. Noun Prefixes

• van- (great [as in great grandfather])
Ex: Ádÿa (grandfather) Vanádÿa (great grandfather)

If you want to say great great grandmother you add the prefix 'önëm-', if you keep going (pls dont) you just keep stacking:

Ádÿa » Vanádÿa » Önëmvanádÿa » Önëmönëmvanádÿa » ...

• ara- / ere- (full of something)
Ex. Roćkýsu (food) Araroćkýsu (full of food)
