Pluralisation
Ekspi forms regular noun plurals with the suffix -i.
The plural ending is added after any case ending.
1. Basic Plural
A singular noun has no plural ending.
To make it plural, add -i.
Noun + -i
mar = house
mari = houses
The plural ending is the same regardless of gender.
2. Plural with Cases
When a noun has a case ending, -i is added after the case ending.
The order is:
noun stem + case ending + plural ending
For example:
mar = house
mari = houses
maren = house, accusative
mareni = houses, accusative
marej = of the house
mareji = of the houses
3. Plural with the Definite Article
The definite article l’ does not change when the noun becomes plural.
Only the noun receives the plural ending.
l’mar = the house
l’mari = the houses
The same applies when the noun also has a case ending:
l’maren = the house, accusative
l’mareni = the houses, accusative
l’marej = of the house
l’mareji = of the houses
4. Plural Adjectives
Adjectives also use -i in the plural.
The adjective follows the noun.
mar sela = quiet house
mari seli = quiet houses
Adjectives agree with number only. They do not change for gender or case.
5. Pronouns
Personal pronouns are fixed forms and do not receive the plural suffix -i.
Plurality is already built into the pronoun itself.
For example:
eu = I
ulo = we, inclusive
ula = we, exclusive
tū = you, plural
ītu = they
Therefore, the plural suffix is used with nouns and adjectives, but not with personal pronouns.
6. Summary
Singular nouns have no plural suffix.
Plural nouns use -i.
-i comes after case endings.
The definite article l’ never changes.
Adjectives also use -i in the plural.
Pronouns do not take -i.
Ekspi plural formation is regular and does not depend on grammatical gender.
