GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT VERBS IN LPQR

3 min read · 656 words

In the grammar of verbs, the main difference between the LPQR language and Russian is a simpler conjugation. In the present and future tense, verbs do NOT have a person and number form, in the past tense, they do NOT have a gender and number form.

Examples:

Present tense of the verb čitatj (the verb “to read”as imperfective):

Ja čitat

Tǐ čitat

On, Ona, Eto čitat

Mǐ čitat

Vǐ čitat

Oni čitat

Future tense of the verb čitatj (‘to read’ as an imperfective verb)

(ja, tǐ, on, ona, eto, mǐ, vǐ, oni) budjet čitatj

The future tense of the verb pročitatj (“to read” as a perfective verb, it does not have a present tense form)

(ja, tǐ, on, ona, eto, mǐ, vǐ, oni) budjet pročitatj

Past tense of the verb čitatj

(ja, tǐ, on, ona, eto, mǐ, vǐ, oni) čital

Past tense of the verb pročitatj

(ja, tǐ, on, ona, eto, mǐ, vǐ, oni) pročital

Imperative of verbs (coincides with the infinitive)

čitatj!

pročitatj!

Subjunctive mood of verbs (formed as follows: <past tense form> + <particle „bǐ“>)

čital-bǐ

pročital-bǐ

Infinitives of verbs in LPQR have the endings -tj or ti. Accordingly, all verbs are divided into tj-verbǐ and ti-verbǐ

Examples:

 tj-verbs

čitatj (to read),

kupitj (to buy),

risovatj (to draw),

otdǐhnutj (to take a rest)

ti-verbs

nesti (to carry)

rasti (to grow),

idti (to go),

vesti (to lead)

In addition, LPQR has reflexive and so-called pseudo-reflexive verbs. The particle -sja is added to them.

 Examples;

kupatjsja (to bathe),

smjejatjsja (to laugh)

( in Russian there are also verbs ending in -чь, for example: мочь "to be able",  помочь "to help", беречь "to take care of", лечь"to lie down", the reflexive verb "беречься” to be carefull. In LPQR they are translated by verbs ending in -ti or -tj:

Verb endings determine how different forms of the verb will be formed.
Here is the MOST IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE FROM RUSSIAN.

Ti-verbs: The present tense form of imperfect ti-verbs coincides with the infinitive

Example:

Vojna nesti smjertj i razruŝenii

War brings death and destruction

Ja vjezti podarok dlja otjec_u_mjenje

I'm bringing a gift for my father.

Djeti rasti očjenj bǐstro

Children grow up very quickly.

V utrǐ ja idti ot rabota domoj čjerjez eto park

In the mornings I walk home from work through the park.

Policǐja vesti razsljedovanije

The police are conducting the investigation.

Tj-verbs. For tj-verbs, the present tense form of imperfective verbs is formed by dropping the final -j from the infinitive.

Examples:

English language:

LPQR language:

to read:

čitatj

I read,

Ja čitat

you read,

tǐ čitat

He (She) reads,

on(ona) čitat

we read,

mǐ čitat

you read,

vǐ čitat

they read

oni čitat

In the LPQR language, unlike Russian, the future tense of both imperfective and perfective verbs is formed in the same way, by adding the infinitive of the verb to the word “budjet”

(ja, tǐ, on, ona, eto, mǐ, vǐ, oni, eti) budjet pisatj pisjmo

(ja, tǐ, on, ona, eto, mǐ, vǐ, oni, eti) budjet napisatj pisjmo

V zavtra ja budjet pisatj pisjmo (Tomorrow I will write a letter) (I don’t know whether I will finish writing it).

V zavtra ja objazatjeljno budjet napisatj i otpravitj eto pisjmo (Tomorrow I will definitely write and send this letter.).

V večjer ja budjet čitatj intjeresnǐj kniga (I will read an interesting book in the evening.).

V zavtra ja budjet pročitatj eto statj’ja (Tomorrow I will read this article) (from the beginning to the end)

In principle, the word “budjet” can be omitted, but this is only recommended if the time of the action is indicated (or it is clear from the context).

V zavtra ja čitatj interenǐj kniga. (Tomorrow I will read an interesting book.)

V zavtra ja objazatjeljno napisatj i otpravitj eto pisjmo (Tomorrow I will definitely write and send this letter).
